Sparky has been part of our family for over 4 years. He has taken my then, very rollercoaster of emotions daughter - aged 9 at the time, from being super nervous to now bring an extremely kind and confident competitive rider ( now she’s 14). When we first got him she was coming off her first ridden and very ‘up and down’ with confidence.
There isn’t anything he hasn’t done in pony club ( bar polo) but I’d have no doubt he’d have a great crack at that too.
He’s done-
Pony racing at Cheltenham 2 years on the trot
Hunting ( I have lead off him out hunting, he took my daughter for her first hunting off lead rein to getting her jumping small rails band walls) he’s good with hounds, great around other horses and just loves it! Will head off on own to catch a loose horse if need be and will do gates as well.
Loves loves loves mounted games, not scared of any equipment and particularly loves be bending races and flag! He’s actually quite nifty.
Hacks alone or in company. Will go pop a wall on his own out hacking.
Fun rides ✅
Pony club camp ✅
Loved jumping. Did a beautiful clear round in a competitive 70 cm a few weeks ago at Hartpury. He’s best up to 70 cm out but has jumped lots bigger at home in the field and bare back etc when the children have been off playing about.
Loves bareback rides ✅
Loves water ✅
Cross country- we won the mini team chase at Foxcote in 2022. He was an absolute dude! My daughter was terrified but came back absolutely buzzing!
Travels well on own or in comps. May look before getting on but he’s just checking if you are awake/ sure u want to be the boss!
He’s unshod and has great feet.
Great for the dentist and vet.
I pop a bridle on him to clip body and give him sleepy gel for his legs.
On the ground he will take the mickey if he feels he can do for his own benefit and yours he’d need someone who knows what they are doing. It’s never nasty and not all the time. It’s if he’s in that cheeky mindset!
This is a very hard sale. He’s been a legend for us and worth his weight in gold. He’s a real character which often makes us laugh ( sometimes makes us swear) but he hasn’t a bad bone deep down. He has a very optimistic look into life and loves going out and about. He’s not a plod but a fun and safe boy.
We will be very careful as to where he goes and want to find the best match as know he’s going to give the right jockey a wonderful time too.
He lived out with us ( comes in before a show if needed)
